Occupant Safety First
Safety technologies are ever evolving to increase occupant and pedestrian safety, vehicle manufacturers in the Light and Small car segments are now launching new model ranges with entry level variants fitted with 6 airbags and ESP as standard equipment.
In Australia, RTAs across the nation strive to promote safety awareness for new car buyers by advertising the necessity for fitting various safety technologies. The past 18 months alone have seen vehicles such as the 2009 Holden Barina double their ANCAP safety rating from 2 to 4 - out of a possible 5. In the last decade, Australians have witnessed ABS technology become mandatory for manufacturers to include in passenger vehicles, consumers now expect to find this technology as standard fitment.
Blue Flag provides insight for current and future strategies that vehicle manufacturers are taking to improve safety technology and develop new innovative ways to protect passengers. Along with this, we advise RTAs and governments with supporting evidence, what technologies are best promoted or made mandatory to reduce vehicle accidents and fatalities, taking into account a range of factors such as location, weather, time of day and more.
